5 years of being recognized by Super Lawyers - Michael Freedland

Michael Freedland is the founding partner of Freedland Harwin Valori Gander. He has practiced law in South Florida for more than 20 years. Throughout that time, he has been involved in a number of high-profile and high-value cases throughout the state of Florida and those of national interest. He is also active in the community and he advocates for consumers’ rights through legislative change.

Freedland focuses his practice on a myriad of cases

Freedland focuses his practice on cases involving medical malpractice, pharmaceutical liability, product liability, whistleblower matters, and those involving catastrophic injury from motor vehicle accidents. He has recovered more than $100,000,000 on behalf of his clients and has the distinction of achieving his first verdict of over one million dollars before age 30.

Freedland was also one of the first attorneys in South Florida to file litigation related to the dangers of Phen-Fen, a popular weight loss drug combination that proved to have deadly side effects. Many years later, he became a leading voice around the country on the safety of cosmetic procedures at day spas through his representation of women who have died in various incidents throughout South Florida. His work on those cases caught the attention of national media outlets such as Good Morning America, CNN, and The Katie Couric Show.

When he is not advocating for clients in court, Freedland is involved with organizations that lobby for strong consumer laws and aims to strengthen the legal profession. He is a member of the Florida Justice Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Broward County Justice Association. Michael also serves on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee and the Florida Democratic Party’s Executive Committee.

Freedland is equally devoted to a variety of social and charitable causes

He has served as a board member and past president of the Rotary Club of Weston. He also co-chairs and sponsors the Club’s annual charity golf tournament, which is sponsored by our firm and raises tens of thousands of dollars each year for college scholarships. He also devotes time and money to supporting the annual Harvest Drive, which provides food for families in Broward County during the Thanksgiving holidays.

Freedland received his law and bachelor of arts degrees from the University of Miami. He is a member of the Florida Bar.
